Beautiful antique Japanese decorative plate in classic Kutani ware style, dating from the late Meiji to early Taishō period (circa 1890–1920). The plate features a finely hand-painted castle and landscape scene, framed by an elaborate border of gilded and enamelled flowers in soft gold, peach and pastel tones. This type of plate was produced for the export market and intended for display in cabinets or on walls, rather than everyday use. On the reverse is a square mark reading “Kutani Seizō” (Made by Kutani), a genuine workshop mark used by Kutani kilns in this period. Details: • Origin: Japan • Period: Late Meiji / early 20th century • Diameter: 22 cm • Material: Porcelain • Decoration: Hand-painted with gilding and raised enamels • Mark: Kutani Seizō (九谷製造)
