The U.S. Army Good Conduct Medal is awarded to enlisted personnel who demonstrate exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity during active military service. Established on June 28, 1941, this medal honors sustained honorable conduct over a minimum period of one year during wartime or three years during peacetime.
Measuring 1-1/4" in diameter and 3" in overall height, this vintage version features a pinback design for secure attachment. The obverse side displays an eagle perched on a sword and book, symbolizing vigilance and knowledge, encircled by the inscription "EFFICIENCY HONOR FIDELITY." The reverse side is often blank, allowing space for engraving the recipient's name or service details.
The ribbon includes red and white stripes, representing valor and purity. This medal is a timeless recognition of dedication and integrity.
Note: They had glued this to a display and I heated most of the glue off, but the pinback does appear to be damaged on this and not close properly.
